add a backup / restore feature (helpful when you change your phone or flash the firmware!)
it would allow to make an "iso" of the phone's apps and then make it really easy to re-install all your apps on your new Android device
It also makes it easy to restore all your apps if you play with different custom firmwares (all apps are deleted from the phone during a flash)428 votes -
allow me to say "not interested, thanks" to your app recommendations
I'd like to keep getting fresh recommendations, and so I'd like to say "no thanks" to current recommendations so that I get new ones - a bit like linkedin.com and facebook.com when they suggest people I know.
However, I'd like also for a "no thanks" to expire after a while (eg new developments happen that make that app interesting/different).

Want to see apps available just in one country.
For example dgirard.radar is available just in France and it not visible on AppBrain.

Make it possible to "follow" other users
And get notified when they install new applications.

Allow Developers and Users to communicate with each other.
It would be great if there could be a communication tool for developers and their customers for comments, fixes, help, feedback, etc. Maybe some kind of forum, per app or per developer.

allow filtering by type of program
Let me explain: Some programs are just e-books. Some are just themes for other programs. I am not particularly interested in either of these. I'd like to be able to filter these out of my searches

allow users to follow apps and get notifications when there's a price drop
there are some apps that I really want but they're too expensive, knowing when the price drops would be really helpful.

Suggest an app to a friend
I would like to be able to mark one or several apps, and recommend them to a friend; either directly through appbrain, if they are registered, or through email.

Currently you can use the “share” functionality in the AppBrain app and also on the website.
We will make it possible to share groups of apps in the future.

Let me add my friends and show me an aggregate of their favorite and/or recommended apps.
I'm much more likely to use and enjoy apps my friends are using. I'd like to see a list of their apps, especially ones that are popular among them.

allow search filtering based on permissions
So I can look for a stand-alone game that *doesn't* request internet permissions, access to my contact list, etc.

Leave out uninstalled applications from history
When you own an Android device for over 6 months, all recommendations are becoming stale. You've installed, used, and then uninstalled apps.
And then they pop right back up in your 'you should try this' list.
Make a difference from all other recommender systems by recognizing the history of users.54 votes -

Show in the app detail screen if the application can be installed in the SD, phone or both.

how about "install all now" option - a one click solution to installing multiple apps?
I just installed your application, and about a dozen apps from the website. I sync'd ant then pressed "perform all changes" - but this opened marlet, one app at a time - granted still quicker than searching for each app, but how much nicer it would be to have a one click solution.
For the paranoid, they can check the permissions elsewhere.... or make it optional.

I absolutely agree. We would love to provide such a feature.
However it is currently not possible since the Google Android market does not provide this functionality. And we have to go through the official Market to install the app.
We hope that Google will provide such a feature in the future. -
show the position of an app in its category.
You should add a graph to the changelog that displays at what position your app appears in the market categories you chose over time.

This would be very interesting to see as a graph.
We will think about how to implement this.
One difficulty is that the available apps are different on each phone. (based on the country, android version, provider, screen resolution etc)This means that an app has many different positions in the category, depending on what phone you use to look at the market.

let me bookmark apps i may wish to download later
I'm new here. I have no android phone yet. But even if I had one I'd like to be able to bookmark apps while surfing on my laptop so that later on, when I actually get my phone (or in the case of when I have a phone, when I am connected to wifi at home) i can check them out. Currently, when i try and add an app to a list it complains that I don't have the appbrain app installed. I know!

allow users to filter apps not compatible with Android 1.5
Many phones are still stuck on Android 1.5 like those running MotoBlur or HTC Sense and many apps shown in the recomendations aren't compatible...
It would be nice to be able to filter those out like we can already do with 1.6, 2.0 and 2.1.

I seem to spend my time clicking Next Page !!
Can you display more apps on the web-page - perhaps making it a user preference setting... 25, 50, 100 or even ALL ?39 votesplanned ·

Allow users to filter out Apps in languages they don't want to see
As an European I have absolutely no use for Apps in Asian language, but I have to look at them and that's time consuming. Couldn't there be a filter implemented what gives me the possibility to say "NO", I don't want to see Apps in certain languages?
